Stress feels different in midlife and that matters

🧠 Stress affects everyone, but the body processes stress differently with age and hormonal change. What once felt manageable can start to feel overwhelming or draining.

🧪 Cortisol interacts with estrogen, progesterone, and insulin. During perimenopause, fluctuations in these hormones can amplify the effects of stress on sleep, mood, digestion, and weight. This does not mean stress tolerance is gone. It means recovery becomes more important.
This applies to men as well, as metabolic stress and nervous system load increase with age.

🔧 Tip:
Focus on recovery signals, not just stress reduction. Prioritize sleep, gentle movement, connection, and predictable routines to help your nervous system reset.
